So many young couples look forward to the wedding day without much thought to a lifetime of marriage. The wedding is one day! One very special day full of memories that will last a lifetime. But the marriage will be a lifetime full of precious memories!

If you are engaged we would challenge you to stop and think about your marriage in 1 year after the wedding day. How about 5 years? 10?…20?…think about celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary?

Take some time to talk to each other about your future together! Not just the one wedding day!! Talk about your spiritual plans like going to church as a married couple. Set a goal to do a Bible study together. Talk about your future jobs and balancing your work schedules. Talk about your finances and financial goals. But most importantly talk to God about your future because He already knows it!!

Premarital counseling is a great way to think about your future together. It may even bring up things you haven’t thought about. Premarital counseling is offered by most churches and Pastors. But the real marriage counselors are the ones who have stood the test of time! Make a double date with your parents, grandparents, or any older couple you admire and adore. I’m sure they would jump at the chance to be an encouragement to you and share all of their own experiences with you!
